Let’s Talk Eyebrows, Eyeliner & Lips!

Let’s take a moment to talk about eyebrows and other permanent makeup procedures. As artists, our vision for cosmetic tattooing is simple, soft and natural daywear makeup. Keep in mind that even though the makeup fades and does not last forever like body art, it’s still “permanent” with remnants of color for many years. There is nothing more that we want for our clients than for them to wake up every morning and admire the natural color we have added with no regrets.

Permanent cosmetics should never look like evening wear or event makeup. Think about it, if you look like Saturday night on a Tuesday morning when you’re doing laundry, then what is so special about dressing up on a Saturday night? It is very important that the client selects an artist who shares the same vision. If your vision of permanent makeup is not what we have described, then perhaps you should choose a different artist. We want you to be happy.

REGARDING EYEBROWS (Microblade or Microshade):

Whether you choose the “microblade” technique or the “powder fill” techniques, we follow the natural eyebrow shape of the client making some adjustments for better symmetry. We do not shave the natural brows. We don’t want you to look like someone else, we want you to be the prettiest YOU that you can be.

Magazine clippings of a model/actress with a different facial structure than yours won’t help. Styles and fads come and go. At the moment, big eyebrows seem to be a thing. It’s okay if you naturally have full eyebrows, but if you don’t, then tattooing your brows too thick just to be fashionable is a huge mistake. You may not be caught dead wearing bell-bottom pants or a bouffant hairdo today, but that was huge in the 60’s and 70’s. Imagine a permanent mark on your face that will be completely inappropriate a few years later just because you wanted thick tattooed eyebrows. Now what? You’re stuck with markings on your face that do not have proper placement. Trust me, it’s a road you don’t want to go down. Some of the most beautiful, influential and powerful women of our times did not necessarily have huge eyebrows, yet their beauty, talents, and contribution to our culture is unparalleled.

REGARDING EYELINER:

The eyeliner we create is within the lash line connecting the lashes and giving the appearance of fuller and thicker lashes. We can sometimes go slightly over the lash line, depending on how well the client tolerates the procedure. Everyone is different so there is no textbook answer. We would like to mention that eyes have a lot of involuntary movement and are constantly blinking during the procedure. We would rather do a skinny straight line, than a crooked thick one.  🙂

If you have medium to dark skin tone, it’s best NOT to do your eyeliner with us. It might not be visible since our style of eyeliner is inside the lashes, and we do not use pure tattoo ink.

REGARDING LIPS:

It’s important to know that lips are quite painful, although we do use great anesthetics. If you have a history of fever blisters, you’ll need an anti-viral prescription from your attending physician.
